Spider, Giant
Vermin: Vermin include insects, arachnids, other arthropods, worms, and similar invertebrates.
They are mindless and thus immune to all mind-affecting
effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, patterns, and phantasms).
Vermin have darkvision.
They breathe, eat, and sleep.
Black Widow
Females of this species are large than males. Males are identical to the typical giant spider.
A black widow's webs are hard to break or escape.
Black widows can use webs to support themselves and up to one additional creature of the same size. In addition, black widows can throw a web. This is similar to an attack with a net. An entangled creature can escape with a successful Escape Artist check or burst the web with a Strength check. Both are standard actions. Attempts to burst a web by those caught in it are harder.
Web spinners can create sheets of sticky webbing up to three
times their size. They usually position these sheets to snare flying creatures
but can also try to trap prey on the ground. Approaching creatures must succeed
on a Perception check to notice a web; otherwise they stumble into it and
become trapped as though by a successful web attack. Attempts to escape or
burst the webbing are easier if the trapped creature has something to walk on
or grab while pulling free. Webs have damage reduction.
A black widow can move across its own web at its climb speed
and can pinpoint the location of any creature touching its web.
The bite of a black widow is poisonous.
A black widow is sensitive to vibrations in the ground and can automatically pinpoint the location of anything that is in contact with the ground.
Ogre
Ogre spiders are brutal,
terrifying hunters that spin tangled webs capable of encasing entire trees.
So-named because the arrangement of its eyes and mandibles gives it a face
unnervingly similar to that of an ogre as much as for their size, ogre spiders
can fit into nooks and tunnels far more narrow than one might expect.
An ogre spider can move through an area as small as
one-quarter its space without squeezing or one-eighth its space when squeezing.
Ogre spiders can use webs to support themselves and up to
one additional creature of the same size. In addition, ogre spiders can throw a
web several times per day. This is similar to an attack with a net and is
effective against targets up to Gargantuan size. An entangled target can escape
with a successful Escape Artist check or burst the web with a Strength check.
Both are standard actions. Attempts to burst a web by those caught in it take a
penalty.
Web spinners can create sheets of sticky webbing up to three
times their size. They usually position these sheets to snare flying creatures
but can also try to trap prey on the ground. Approaching creatures must succeed
at a Perception check to notice a web; otherwise they stumble into it and
become trapped as though by a successful web attack. Attempts to escape or
burst the webbing gain a bonus if the trapped creature has something to walk on
or grab while pulling free. Each section of web has damage reduction. An ogre
spider can move across its own web and can pinpoint the location of any
creatures touching its web.
They have a poisonous bite.
They have tremorsense.
