Around midday, just after lunchtime, the Pathfinders were called into Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin's office in the Grand Lodge of Absalom for an important new mission. Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin was seated behind his large and meticulously arranged desk, and he was not alone. At his side behind the desk stood the smirking, mustachioed likeness of Guaril Karela. Ambrus gestured to the chairs set forth before the desk, then began his briefing. "Some of you may not be acquainted with Mr. Karela. He's an ally of the Society and he's provided the Decemvirate pertinent information concerning this situation. I've invited him to participate in your briefing. Please extend to him every courtesy." Ambrus nodded at Guaril to take the lead. Guaril preened at the recognition and spoke with a dockside slang. "By way of my own resources, it's come to my attention there's an individual looking for a buyer for a collection of valuable lore. These are legen

Vine-Choked Gallery.  Decaying vines carpeted the walls and ceiling of this room. The floor was riddled with narrow cracks and fissures, extending several feet below. The only odor in this room was the earthen smell of decay. The vines shrouding this room reduced the light level to darkness, and the cracks provided difficult terrain. To the east, a room with healthy trees and shrubs was visible through a glass door set in a wrought iron frame. The door in the northern wall led to a collection of corridors and ruined galleries, as well as the flourishing Plants of Eastern Garund Greenhouse. The door to the east led to a gallery

To the Precipice Quarter (Kuthona [XII] 31st, 4707 AR)

J. asked the heroes how they would like to proceed to the Precipice Quarter, and admitted that she hadn’t gotten out of the house much in the last few months. When asked where in particular she would like to go, J. shrugged and suggested that they head toward the Drownyard. There were two main ways of reaching the Precipice Quarter from the Ivy District. The most direct route was through the mercantile Coins district and then along the edge of the Merchant’s Quarter. The second was through the Foreign Quarter and then through the Docks. The heroes knew that today was a market day, which meant that the Coins were packed with shoppers and merchants. On the other hand, even though there would be less traffic in the Docks, going through that neighborhood was not without its risks, as it was one of the city’s rougher districts. During their walk through the city, J. asked the heroes questions about their lives and their adventures as Pathfinders. She had an obvious interest in the Pathfinde
