Genie, Efreeti

Outsider: An outsider is at least partially composed of the essence (but not necessarily the material) of some plane other than the Material Plane.

Outsiders have darkvision.

Unlike most living creatures, an outsider does not have a dual nature — its soul and body form one unit. When an outsider is slain, no soul is set loose. Spells that restore souls to their bodies, such as raise dead, reincarnate, and resurrection, don’t work on an outsider. A different magical effect, such as limited wish, wish, miracle, or true resurrection, is required to restore it to life. A native outsider can be raised, reincarnated, or resurrected just as other living creatures can be.

Outsiders breathe, but do not need to eat or sleep (although they can do so if they wish). Native outsiders breathe, eat, and sleep.

Extraplanar: Extraplanar is any creature when it is on a plane other than its native plane. A creature that travels the planes can gain or lose this subtype as it goes from plane to plane. Creatures not extraplanar are natives of the Material Plane, and they gain the extraplanar subtype if they leave the Material Plane. No creature has the extraplanar subtype when it is on a transitive plane, such as the Astral Plane, the Ethereal Plane, or the Plane of Shadow.

Fire: Fire creatures have immunity to fire and vulnerability to cold.

The efreet (singular efreeti) are genies from the Plane of Fire. An efreeti stands about 12 feet tall and weighs about 2,000 pounds.

An efreeti has the ability to assume the appearance of a humanoid or giant, but retains most of its own physical qualities. An efreeti cannot change shape to a form more than one size category smaller or larger than its original form. This ability functions as a polymorph spell, but the creature does not adjust its ability scores (although it gains any other abilities of the creature it mimics). Unless otherwise stated, it can remain in an alternate form indefinitely.

Efreet have few allies among geniekind. They certainly hate djinn, and attack them on sight. They hold an equally strong enmity for marids, and view the jann as frail and weak. Efreet often work closely with shaitans, yet even then alliances are temporary at best.

Efreet can mentally communicate with any other creature that has a language. It is possible to address multiple creatures at once telepathically, although maintaining a telepathic conversation with more than one creature at a time is just as difficult as simultaneously speaking and listening to multiple people at the same time.

They have spell-like abilities.

A small percentage of efreet are noble. Noble efreet are often called maliks.

An efreeti can magically change a creature’s size. This works just like an enlarge person or reduce person spell (the efreeti chooses when using the ability), except that the ability can work on the efreeti.

An efreeti’s body deals fire damage whenever it hits in melee, or while it grapples.
