Conclusion (Erastus [VII] 2nd-4th, 4707 AR)

Trabe was the weak link. He knew the truth and he told all to Gryxxa. Jarbin Mord was known around town as a taciturn harbinger of death with a drooping mouth and a lazy eye. As disliked as he was misunderstood, it did not take long for the wolves to circle and the blame to be cast. They thought Old Hangman Mord lost his mind and took an axe to his boy and lady-love. It was easy enough to believe, especially in the bedlam that followed the cliffside’s collapse. Beldrin’s Bluff’s magistrate, Silman Trabe, a rotund bushy-bearded human with shining green eyes, never much liked Mord. Cowed by Alastir Wade’s enterprising mind and connections to Absalom’s seedier personalities, Silman Trabe oversaw a miscarriage of justice that resulted in a short drop and sudden stop for old Jarbin Mord. Alastir Wade, Silman Trabe, and their co-conspirators (the members of the jury) brushed the evidence of their evil deed under the pews and locked the courthouse tight, hoping no one would ever go prying. Sveth drugged the jurors (and heroes) and brought them here. Judge Silman Trabe and Alastir Wade received blackmail letters in each others' hands. The letters were addressed to them from each other, threatening to go to the authorities and expose the other’s involvement in the “horrible miscarriage of justice” unless they met “where we did the deed” and brought 1,000 gp along with them. The heroes heard the ring of steel on steel coming from the Great Hall. When they investigated, they found a n old man with a sizable paunch staggering backward as he defended himself from a tall, lean opponent with a full beard and a flashing blade to match his intense blue eyes. Their rapiers clanged and cast silvery sparks as the tall man adjusted his black top hat gallantly and launched another barrage of thrusts, disengaged, and riposted. The heavier man’s silver goatee and drooping moustache dripped beads of sweat while his green eyes showed terror and strain as he barely turned aside the assa

Eyeless old Tablark and Madge Blossomheart’s headless corpses sat in their appointed chairs along with another old broke-necked victim. They danced at Patrissa’s deranged command, lurching toward the heroes and attacking. Patrissa's zombies did her dirty work for her for the beginning of combat, then she assaulted the heroes with her stinking entrails.   She fought until destroyed. Madge approached Gryxxa and tried to tear her head off. When Patrissa was killed, Madge fell inert and did not reanimate. The other zombies charged the heroes, keeping them away from Patrissa.   The zombies fought until Patrissa was destroyed. The heroes continued their exploration of the courthouse after this battle. Torture Chamber Brutal machines to coax confessions from the accused filled this mournful room of cold stone, pain, and dark stains. A flaying rack rested in one corner, with an iron maiden against one wall; a restraining chair adorned with all manner of crushing vices and punishing screws

Undead: Undead are once-living creatures animated by spiritual or supernatural forces. They have darkvision. Undead have immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, patterns, and phantasms). They have immunity to bleed, death effects, disease, paralysis, poison, sleep effects, and stunning. Undead are not subject to nonlethal damage, ability drain, or energy drain. They are immune to damage to their physical ability scores, as well as to exhaustion and fatigue effects. Most unintelligent undead cannot heal damage on their own, although they can be healed. Negative energy (such as an inflict spell) can heal undead creatures. They have immunity to any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects or is harmless). Undead are not at risk of death from massive damage, but are immediately destroyed when reduced to 0 hit points. They are not affected by raise dead or reincarnate spells or abilities. Resurrection
