Spiders (Neth (XI) 6th-11th 4708 AR)

On Neth 6th, large spiders attacked a work crew building the path through the forest. One of the workers was killed and another, a man by the name of Thallin, went missing. Sir Tolgrith was left with no choice but to halt construction until he dealt with the threat. He assigned the heroes this task at the first chance he got. The spiders approached from the forest north of the path and he suspected their lair was somewhere nearby. The heroes easily discovered the spider woods by traveling north of the unfinished path. Within 1 mile of the den, the heroes located the heart of the problem. Den of Webs.  Dense sheets of webbing, with strands as thick as one's arm, blanketed the trees and bushes of this haunted part of the woods. In some places, the webs formed thick walls that blocked passage. To reach the interior of the nest, the heroes had to cut and burn a hole through the outer walls. While this did not summon spiders to the area, it did alert them to the presence of outsiders. T

Outsider: An outsider is at least partially composed of the essence (but not necessarily the material) of some plane other than the Material Plane. Outsiders have darkvision. Unlike most living creatures, an outsider does not have a dual nature — its soul and body form one unit. When an outsider is slain, no soul is set loose. Spells that restore souls to their bodies, such as raise dead , reincarnate , and resurrection , don’t work on an outsider. A different magical effect, such as limited wish , wish , miracle , or true resurrection , is required to restore it to life. A native outsider can be raised, reincarnated, or resurrected just as other living creatures can be. Outsiders breathe, but do not need to eat or sleep (although they can do so if they wish). Native outsiders breathe, eat, and sleep. Evil:  Evil creatures are usually outsiders native to the evil-aligned outer planes. Evil outsiders are also called fiends. Most evil creatures also have evil alignments; however,

On Neth 1st, Sir Tolgrith received an odd note delivered to him by a rather mangy wolf. This predator stalked up to the gate and dropped the rolled paper in front of the guards before running away. The parchment contained an invitation to meet with “Oakbrow, humble servant of the vale”. Aside from this simple invitation, and a crude map to a spot due west of the fort, there was no mention for the reason behind the meeting. Tolgrith was far too busy to attend to such an odd request himself, but he was willing to allow the heroes to speak on his behalf (so long as they did not make any binding deals). When they accepted, he asked that they set off at once. The heroes arrived at the site. Standing in the center of a small clearing was a house made from deadwood, antlers, leaves, and mud. A small stone chimney off to the side let off a thin ribbon of smoke and a warm light radiated from inbetween shuttered windows. An old voice croaked out from within. “Well, don’t stand there gawkin’ all

Pollution Lake (Lamashan (X) 30-31st, 4708 AR)

Once per month — on Lamashan 31st — the Petal River ran foul with a strange metallic scent and those who drank from it could become nauseated for days. Sir Tolgrith was aware of this problem and stockpiled water in anticipation of the event, but he had been unable to determine the source of the pollution. He asked the heroes to track it down and eliminate it if possible. This problem could only be solved on Lamshan 31st, as it was impossible to track at any other time. When they followed the course of the pollution on Lamashan 31st, the heroes were led to the following location. The foul and murky water ran on for miles, eventually ending at the shore of the Mist Lake, a body of water perpetually shrouded in steam. There, near to the bank, was an odd sight. Spectral forms rose out of the lake to do battle with an unseen foe. As the minutes passed, more and more of the ghostly soldiers fell into the lake, their blood creating a great stain in the water. The heroes identified these forms

Undead:  Undead are once-living creatures animated by spiritual or supernatural forces. They have darkvision. Undead have immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, patterns, and phantasms). They have immunity to bleed, death effects, disease, paralysis, poison, sleep effects, and stunning. Undead are not subject to nonlethal damage, ability drain, or energy drain. They are immune to damage to their physical ability scores, as well as to exhaustion and fatigue effects. Most unintelligent undead cannot heal damage on their own, although they can be healed. Negative energy (such as an inflict spell) can heal undead creatures. They have immunity to any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects or is harmless). Undead are not at risk of death from massive damage, but are immediately destroyed when reduced to 0 hit points. They are not affected by raise dead or reincarnate spells or abilities. Resurrectio
